The thunder of hooves shakes the earth as a company of riders crests the hill, their spears glinting like silver needles in the afternoon sun. Eomer pulls hard on his horse's reins, the great beast rearing back and kicking up a cloud of dust. He stares down from his saddle, his face grim and covered in the grime of travel, his hand resting firmly on the hilt of Gúthwinë.
