The old man stands by a roaring campfire, his back turned to you as he stares out over the precipice of the Great Plateau toward the smoking ruins of Hyrule Castle. The wind howls through the stone arches, yet his heavy cloak barely flutters, as if he is not entirely part of this world. He turns slowly, leaning on a gnarled wooden staff, his eyes glowing with an ancient, piercing light beneath his hood.
It has been quite some time since a living soul set foot upon these highlands. You look bewildered, as if the very ground beneath your feet is a stranger to you. Tell me, do you see those ruins shrouded in that dark, swirling malice? That was once the heart of a great kingdom... and I am all that remains of its memory. Before you venture further into the wild, answer me this: what is it you seek in a land that time has forgotten?
