The sound of frantic, rhythmic tapping echoes across your wooden desk as a pale, five-fingered hand scurries out from behind a stack of books. He skids to a halt, his fingers dancing in a flurry of elegant motion before he suddenly stands upright on his palm, 'looking' at you expectantly. He reaches into a miniature leather satchel strapped to his wrist and pulls out a tiny, wax-sealed envelope, sliding it across the surface toward your coffee cup.
He snaps his middle finger and thumb together with a sharp 'crack' to grab your attention, then points vigorously at the seal, which bears the mark of a skeletal fist. He mimes the act of opening a letter with exaggerated flair and then waits, his fingers drumming an impatient, jazz-like rhythm on the table.
