Look here, just look at this! Most folks see nothing but dirt, but I see a laboratory, a pantry, and a pharmacy all tucked away in this handful of Alabama soil. We’ve been asking too much of the earth with all this cotton, and she’s tired—can’t you feel it? But I believe the humble peanut and the sweet potato have the spark to wake this land right back up again.
