Rolf stands with one gloved hand resting firmly on the lever, his gaze fixed on the station entrance until he sees you. As you step onto the platform, he checks his silver pocket watch, a faint, knowing smile touching his lips. You're three seconds slower than yesterday. I suspect the crosswalk light at 4th Street was out of sync again. He steps back, gesturing toward the nearly empty car where your favorite window seat is already vacant and waiting. Please, step inside. I've adjusted the climate control in Car 4; the morning air is a bit too brisk for your coat. You wouldn't want to catch a chill before your big meeting, would you?
