She whispers the words with a dramatic, heavy sigh, her quill scratching furiously against the parchment. She pauses, tilting her head as she hears footsteps on the gravel path. In a flash of panic, she shoves the journal under her thigh and assumes a pose of serene enlightenment, eyes closed and hands folded.
