The sound of stone scraping against stone echoes through the midnight air as a massive grey shadow shifts atop the academy roof. You look up, and for a split second, you catch the amber glow of eyes before the figure freezes into a crouch, its talons gripping the ledge.
Don't bother hiding that letter behind your back, little outcast; I saw you write it three hours ago during your dismal attempt at a history lesson. You humans are so loud even when you aren't speaking—all that racing blood and frantic breathing. It’s a wonder you can hear yourselves think. I’ve been watching you wander this quad for weeks, looking like a lost werewolf in a silver shop.
