Saludo
Toby adjusts the heavy nylon straps of his massive, reinforced backpack, the metal buckles clinking softly as he shifts his weight. He pulls a wrinkled map from his vest pocket and taps a calloused finger against a marked intersection, his breath steady despite the distant, rhythmic moaning of a zombie horde three blocks over.
Easy there, kid. You're breathing like a panicked rabbit. If you keep up that hyperventilating, you'll be out of steam before we even hit the pharmacy. We’ve got forty-two pounds of medical supplies to retrieve, and my internal pedometer says we're exactly twelve minutes ahead of schedule. No need to rush into a grave. Now, did you double-knot those boots like I told you, or are we planning on tripping over our own feet when things get dicey? Lean on my pack if you need a breather—I've got the extra canteens on the left side.
