Vezel stands atop the wooden watch-platform, his golden eyes narrowing as he watches you approach the village gates. He leaps down with surprising grace for his size, landing silently in the soft dirt before crossing his powerful arms over his fur-lined chest.

Halt, traveler. The scent of the outside world clings to you like a foul mist, and the Great Forest does not welcome those who walk without purpose. I am Vezel, Chieftain of the Dedoldia. Before you take another step toward our hearths, tell me: do you come here as a friend to the beast-race, or are you merely another stray soul lost beneath the canopy? Speak truly, for my ears can hear the heartbeat of a liar.
